American Apparel Factory Grey

I believe this is origami's third pick.

Factory Grey is a grey creme. Lol, yeah, that's about all there is to it. Well, there is a slight pink thing going on with it. That might just be my skin reflecting off it though. I originally didn't like it much but it grew on me. Sorry for my index and ring fingers. On my index finger there was barely any top coat on the brush so it ended up scraping it. And on my ring finger, I was moving my chair up and accidentally wiped some of it off on the chair.

Two coats with top coat. My Poshe is so dead and dying. Anyway, this is very close to a one coater. I am just continually impressed by American Apparel's formula.

Pic of the Moment: Here's a pic that StBFF took of all the manicures I did last Saturday. One of the ladies whose nails I did left early. And bottom right corner with the french mani and konading is StBFF's hands.

MAC Blue India

So yesterday I did ten manictures for charity. It was at my church's women's retreat. I offered to do manicures and the ladies would then in turn donate some money to the Canadian Red Cross if they chose. I ended up making about $40 for CRC. Pretty awesome.

Anyhow, origami's second pick.

Blue India is a super rich dusty deep blue. I know you guys have probably seen this everywhere, so I'll try not to dwell on it. Anyway, this pic was taken in low light. It was snowing when I had this mani on, way back in May, so the pic is a bit crummy.

Two coats. Application was great. Good pigmentation and went on smoothly. I also found it dried really fast. That's something I generally wouldn't notice, but I accidentally bumped my nails soon after my second coat and no mark. So pretty sweet.

Now the last chibi figurine I have. Chibi Spiderman. Ridiculously cute, no? *Hugs him* I think my faves are a tie between Spiderman and Hulk.

Now for some blog news! For the past three months I haven't picked my polish at all. And frankly, at this point, I don't think I'm capable of picking my own polish anymore. So I've made pick my polish a permanent part of this blog. You can check that out along the top where my pages are or click here. Seriously, have a look and make a request. I'd really appreciate it.

Random NP Shopping for Canadian Ladies

I've been seeing Hidden Treasure at Shoppers Drugmarts around the city, so keep an eye out if you want it.

I found bottles of Seche Vite at my local Winners for $7.99. So if you need to know where to get it now that etailers aren't shipping out here, check Winners.

SpaBoutique.ca is having a nail polish sale, you can check that out here.

From now until June 30th, receive 15% off on all individual nail polish shades from all seven nail polish brands! Simply use the coupon code "POLISH15" at the checkout.

And in other news, I'm an idiot. I've never noticed until now that at the top left corner of my blog, there's a search box. Holy shiz, has that always been there? Crap, it's so handy and I never noticed. *Facepalm*

China Glaze Awakening

Here is cupcakequeen22's pick. If you would like to make a request for what polish you want to see on this blog, go here.

Awakening is a totally kickass polish. It's a mauvey pink with a gold flash that's really distinct when you look at it head on. And you can totally see that on the pic, which was taken under an ott lite.

Two coats with TC. No issues with application. It certainly wasn't as streaky as the pic makes it out to be. Macro mode is good and bad this way.

Now here's some more cute Marvel Hero figurines. I now have five. Just missing one for the full set. I don't know if it's worth it because I don't even particularly like the last one. But you know... I have five, so close to six. Here's Chibi Iron Man.

Joe Fresh Peacock

This is DistantDreamer's pick.

So for those who might not be aware, Joe Fresh is a Canadian brand sold at the Loblaws chain of grocery stores. Joe Fresh is the "house designer" you could say. I actually really like their clothes. So I was pretty stoked when I found out they had nail polish. Anyway, it's $4 a 6 ml bottle or 3 for $10.

Peacock is a tealy-blue/purple duochrome shimmer. Can't really see the purple in these pics though. It's a pretty sweet colour. I spent a lot of time looking at my hands. My gap is way too big in this mani, but oh well.

Two coats. Goes on smooth. Short stem though. But it's got a nice flat brush. I was super harsh on it so it chipped after two days. So I would assume it'd have lasted longer had I been nice to it.

And now for Chibi Hulk!

Nubar Iced Licorice

Here's Skulda's pick. Number 13 for Round 2 of Pick My Polish.

Iced Licorice is a mauvish purple polish with gold flakies. Freaking. Awesome. I absolutely love this polish. Oh so much.

Three coats, no top coat. Application was good. And it lasted five days without any chips until I started working. So that's pretty awesome. *Loves*

Now here's some more cute for you. Chibi Captain America.

By the way, the official name for these little figurines is: Marvel Heroes 2 Inch Self-Vending (no capsules) Buildable Figures.

Zoya Lulu

Heather's pick. 12th pick for Round 2 of Pick My Polish.

Lulu is a sheer milky peach pink. I love colours like this. I actually really like the way it looked at two coats. It's just a really clean look. Super pretty colour. I originally didn't think I'd like it because it's a slightly warm colour. It toes the border between cool and warm. And depending on the light, it'll change. I thought it just wouldn't work for me at all. But in most lights it looked great.

Three coats with topcoat. At this point you can still see VNL. And there's some streaking, but that didn't even happen until the third coat. Overall I say those ladies out there who like the sheer pretty look should totally grab this polish.

Now a wee bit o' blog business. I've decided to get rid of the pic of the moment feature. I'm just going to slap the awesome pics I want to share with you guys at the end of each post. This way it doesn't disappear when I change it.

And the pic of the moment is Chibi Wolverine. I've been collecting these little Chibi Marvel characters for the past little bit. I only have three of the six. There's Thor, the Hulk, Spider Man, Captain America, Wolverine and Iron Man. You'll probably be seeing these little guys from me in the next little while.

He's super fierce all contained an absolutely adorable little package.

China Glaze Flying Dragon

Heads up for the Canadian ladies out there, if you've got a Rexall near you, all lipsticks and lip glosses are 50% off Jun 12 - 18, 2010. Check out the flyer here.

Alrighty, here's ch3rryco1a's pick. The 11th pick for Round 2 of Pick My Polish. This is a re-swatch. My first swatch turned out wicked bad. This time I'm wearing it for a full mani. But to check out the original review, go here.

But here's a tiny recap of the colour. Deep purple polish with silver (which shows up more purple/pink) and blue glitter. It's not very blingy and much darker than the bottle. And here are two pics. One taken with an ott lite and one taken in direct sunlight. This is for those who asked to see what sort of difference there might be.

You can see with an Ott Lite, it really concentrates the light in one area, so it's darker in the periphery whereas in direct sunlight there's much more light everywhere. But as far as colouring goes, they're both pretty accurate.

This is three coats again. And with topcoat this time. But I did a nice even semi-thick first coat and two thinner coats to even things out and such. Doesn't look watery anymore.

Now here's a random pic of me. I kept meaning to get stash pics, but never got around to it. So here's a semi stash pic. I pulled all my polishes out to pick which ones I would take to do manicures for women's retreat and so I'm sitting here surrounded by all my polish. I'm making a franken, I think. I'm totally wearing sweats and plaid. I feel like a slob.

FingerPaints Icy Iris

So I graduated yesterday. Absolutely exhausting day. But I'm glad it's done now. I was sorta miserable the whole day because it was pouring rain (my hair, which was nice an curly in the morning, was flat by 5 PM). My shoes hurt like a bitch and I was stressed. But now that I look back on it, I'm just immensely proud and happy. My parents might have been bickering and making me anxious but it was nice to spend the day with them. And of course StBFF was there the entire day. She's a trooper. I completely wasted her entire day and she didn't complain once. But yeah, despite whatever negative there was, I get an overall positive feeling when I think back on yesterday. I'm done! A new chapter in my life. I'm a bit terrified right now. But you know, it's a fresh start. It'll be awesome.

Now onto the polish. I wasn't planning on wearing this polish for convocation, but then I got lazy and didn't bother to change it. It's a gorgeous colour though, so it's not a huge deal. Icy Iris is a deep purple polish with silver glitter. It just glows. Absolutely stunning purple. It's nice and dark, but always looks purple. This was taken under an ott lite.

Two coats with topcoat. Great application, very well pigmented. Really have nothing but good things to say about this polish. Too bad it was limited edition. If you get a chance to pick this up, I highly recommend it.

And now here are some pics from grad.

Let us start with grad bears. Last year when StBFF graduated, I bought her the bear on the right. This year, she bought me the bear on the left for grad. Pretty sweet. We got matching grad bears.

This next one is me standing near the stage. You see those straps on my shoes? Those are pony tail holders. Yeeeeeeaaaaah. The shoes are too big. They fit fine when I'm in bare feet, but when I'm wearing pantyhose, they just slide right off. And it was so retarded cold outside that I needed pantyhose.

And this next one is me looking fabulous in the rain. For some reason, my head flip makes StBFF laugh like an idiot. I was trying to flip hair out of my face, but she took the picture at that exact moment. Anyhow, you can't see the rain, but I am definitely getting rained on.

Well, there's grad for me. Thanks to those who read this far. *Kisses* Oh, and how many people use the term convocation for graduation ceremony? I know lots of people aren't familiar with the term, but my school definitely likes to use it.

Zoya Tangy

Here be polishsis' pick. *Yawns* *Curls up* *Snooze* I really don't know why I've been so tired. But yes, on with the polish.

Tangy is a lime green shimmer. And I've only gotten a pic of three fingers because I ruined my index doing this swatch.

This is two coats, no TC. Probably could have used a third coat. I had no application problems. And it looks streakier than it is in real life.

Now here's a random pic for you. So for those following what I've been up to, you all know I work at the Military Museums. Today we're doing a big thing for a grand re-opening anniversary. There are going to be tours of the storage, where I work. So they pulled out a WWII motorcycle to show around. I actually really hope I'm allowed to show this to people. But here's a pic of it. I sorta think it's awesome.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Dead Calm

Omg, I'm so tired. *Yawns*

Here's fishgirl182's pick.

Dead Calm is that perfect dark blue creme. Seriously. So freaking awesome. I loved the way this looked. Btw, my fingers are shiny because I've got some Mango Mend on them. I also went and got a container of Lemony Flutter. Now I get what people are constantly raving about. That stuff is goooood. But I don't particularly like the way it smells. Anyhow, yes, see picture.

This is good at one coat but I'm wearing two coats because I wasn't careful. So pigmented. Totally ended up with smurf fingers when I took it off. But absolutely worth it. So amazing.

Edit: And while you're here, please have a looksee at the pic of the moment. Really love that painting.

Edit 6/13/2010: Oh what the heck, here it is.

Kicking Horse Pass
by George Horne Russell. 1900, oil on canvas. Probably one of my favourite paintings. It's too bad I couldn't capure all the shades of blue with my scanner. It's just stunning.
