Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe is a deep emerald green jelly packed with gold micro-flakies. Love. I want to have its babies. They'll be beautiful green polish babies. I can't get over how magnificent this polish is.

Two coats with topcoat. The only downside is that because it's a jelly, it's not perfect at two coats. I applied it in relatively low light and didn't realize I had a some patchiness. Next time I would make sure to apply three coats. I would say the extra coat is worth it for the colour though. Or waiting more time between coats. But we all know I'm not capable of waiting.

Pic of the Moment: Handelingenkamer library on Andrea's Tumblr. So. Gorgeous.

China Glaze Atlantis

So... Today's my Birthday. Happy Birthday to me! Hahaha. I actually wrote this post about a month before you're going to read it. (I've been backlogging posts so that I consistently have something to post because I love y'all just that much. Just sayin'.) Atlantis probably would have been the perfect Birthday polish, but alas, I didn't time it right. C'est la vie. There will always be something else to wear. Anyhow, here's Katie's pick.

Atlantis is the polish embodiment of Atlantis. It's this glorious watery turquoise polish loaded with silver and holographic glitter. Blingtacular. Oh this is ever so unprofessional, but who cares? Hahaha. I couldn't stop looking at it at work. Heck, anywhere, for that matter. I purposely blurred out the second photo so you can see how it just goes nuts in the light and how I happened to see it because I don't wear my glasses as long as I can get away with it so everything is usually a little blurry to me.

Three coats with top coat. It started off quite sheer, but at three coats you have pretty good coverage. You'll still see slight VNL though. Also make sure to wear topcoat. It was a bit dull without and it's bumpy as heck. But the problem with applying a thick coat of topcoat on top of three already thick coats of glitter is that it chips much too quick. By the next day I already had two large chips. And at the second day, I had my entire left index finger chip off in one sheet.

On the third day we were downstairs in the collections with the design team working on mounts for artefacts, when I looked down, my entire left middle finger had chipped off. I was wondering where it popped off when my co-worker found it. Beside an artefact. In a mock-up case. It was the funniest and grossest thing ever. Hahaha. So yes, next time, I'll probably put on a coat of green polish first and then slap on a couple coats of Atlantis, instead.

Song of the Moment: Until recently I had never heard of Adele. I don't think the radio stations I listen to in Calgary play her. But my friend recommended her and I've been absolutely hooked on this song. I love the heavy driving drums. *Bobs around in my chair to the song*

Diamond Cosmetics Never So Ever-Green

Natalie's pick. It's been ever so long since I've worn a polish from my
chosen-for-me-to-wear list. I've been in this super dark and vampy mood lately. And nothing on my list seemed to fit. My nails have also been in bad shape so lighter colours just don't look good right now.

Never So Ever-Green is a muted moss green with micro-glitter. It was a lot darker than I expected. And my pictures look much swampier than I expected. Just wearing it around, there's a little less yellow than the pics show.

Two coats with topcoat.

Pic of the Moment Last month, my friend Stacey, who's currently in Japan teaching, sent me a bunch of awesome stuff. (Edit: I wrote this entry weeks ago and it never occured to me to go and edit this when the earthquake happened. Stacey is totally fine. She's still there but she's ok. Just in case anyone was wondering.) I know what most of it is except for one. It's on the left above the green Kit Kat. They're paper flowers but I haven't the foggiest idea of what they're meant for.

So here's a run down of what I think these things are. Chopsticks, at the top, of course, then partially under that is origami paper, the Hello Kitty package is face blotting cloths (I think), beside that is apple scented lead, lip chap, then holographic glitter top coat nail polish. Now for the Kit Kats. I believe there's a fruit flavoured one and a wasabi flavoured one. Yup, that took a bit to figure out, but I'm 99% sure it's wasabi. It's the strangest thing. Lol.

Joe Fresh Twilight

So if it wasn't for Sparkled Beauty I wouldn't have had any idea this polish existed.

Twilight is a black jelly polish with flakies that flash green, yellow and orange. It's like having pieces of ammonite on your nails. I had a little bit of trouble capturing the polish because the black tends to overpower the flakies.

Three coats with topcoat. Three thin coats necessary for full coverage and a good depth. Something that you wouldn't be able to get if you used a flakie topcoat over black polish.

Pic of the Moment: So this is actually a very very old picture I took way back on Valentine's day 2007 on my very old camera. Usually on V-day I hide out at home. Bad things tend to happen to me so I stay in. There's a good chance bad things happen to me because I expect it to. Who knows. But we had a power outage that day. The entire street was completely dark. When a car drove by, I snapped this pic. I quite like it. And it fits in with the dark-polish-called-Twilight theme. Oui?

Sephora by OPI Teal We Meet Again

Teal We Meet Again is a gorgeous deep teal shimmer. I love polishes like this. It's got the vibrant centre with the blackened edges.

Two coats with topcoat. No application issues. Goes on nice and smooth.

Pic of the Moment: A few weeks ago we were at a sushi place called Kinjo Sushi and Grill. A new location had just opened up near me. The first location was super popular and I had been looking forward to trying it for about two and half months. I was retardedly excited. The sushi was good, but not spectacular. What sets them apart is their owner and the amount of free food they give you. The owner does a really good job of coming by and talking to you and if you're a girl, making you feel really special. I'm sure he says the exact same thing to every girl that comes by, but it's fun and it's different. He also gave us this dragon dynamite roll. Just the girls, of course. He also gave us boxes of Pocky, also only for the girls. Hahaha.

Thanks to my friend Nick for snapping the picture.

L.A. Girl Color Addict Idol

Idol is a dark muted blue with gold shimmer that turns out looking a bit green. Perdy, no? I don't think the shimmer comes out as much as Intoxicate, but still pretty sweet. And reminds me a bit of MAC Blue India. Forgive the crappy picture of that one.

Two coats with topcoat. Again, perfect application. Nearly opaque at one coat, but just needs that second coat for perfection.

Pic of the Moment: Ok, so I had to show you guys this because it's so true. It's weird how asian women look exactly the same for decades, and then menopause hits and blammo, you're old.

OPI The Show Must Go On!

Show Must Go On! is a fuschia foil with a gold flash. This is the brighter pink and foil version of La Boheme. Super fun and bright. I love how sometimes when you just turn your hand right, you see it turn gold. And definitely click that second pic to see a closeup of the particles in the polish. So cool.

Two coats with topcoat. Applied very smooth. No issues.

Pic of the Moment: This just makes me giggle. I don't watch Phineas and Ferb. But I love this for Perry the Platypus, the colour combination, and his name is Perry. Thanks to Andrea for sending this to me.

Also, have some dancing panda. Just because.

Blog Business: So after all this time, I have finally figured out how to enable email subscriptions for this blog. Good golly, I can't believe it took me this long. But Mandy walked me through it so it's all good. You'll find a field to input your email along my sidebar on the right, under the followers gadget.
